Innovation in cars has come a long way. Now your vehicle can alert you to oncoming hazards, check blind spots, help you back up, and utilize voice command. That's only going to grow in the future. Looking into the past, it's fun to see the ways automakers innovated. For VW, it was a coffee machine in a the Beetle.
There's been a photo being shared online that shows a 1959 Beetle in Germany which had a coffee machine mounted to the dashboard. It's true, VW did try this. It was very rare, but it did exist. The coffee heated up by being plugged into the old lighter socket, similar to brewing tea. The cups were also held on by magnets.
Now, the idea is to keep the vehicle on the road and use cups to avoid spills, but you never know, features like this might return somewhere down the line and that would be very cool!
